Our story

DetraPel was brought to life in 2013 with a desire to help people prolong the life of their favorite items. The idea was born from a realization that there was a lack of safe products on the market to help protect items from spills and stains. As a teenager, Founder David Zamarin ran a shoe cleaning business that offered a conditioning service. While using a competitor’s product, he discovered that is was carcinogenic due to dangerous fluorochemicals. By using that harmful formula, David exposed himself to cancer-causing chemicals and an industry-changing idea. Today, DetraPel creates nano-based protective coatings that are inherently safe for people, pets and the planet alike. At DetraPel, we know life gets messy and we’re here to help in the safest, most convenient way possible.

I founded DetraPel® because I wanted protective products that were safe enough to apply at home, without a mask, and could be used in the presence of babies and puppies.
