Directions:
Make sure the surface is clean and free of dirt. Shake well. Test in an inconspicuous area. Spray 6-8″ away from the surface. Spray evenly and thoroughly but do not oversaturate. Remove any excess by blotting with a clean paper towel or colorfast cloth immediately. Allow the surface to air dry at room temperature for 30-60 min. Reapply and allow the surface to air dry at room temperature for an additional 24 hrs. It may take up to 72 hrs to achieve peak repellency. For best results, reapply every 4-6 months.

How soon after applying DetraPel® Carpet & Rug Protector, can I walk on my carpet?
We suggest applying two coats of DetraPel® Carpet & Rug Protector, 30 minutes apart and leaving the solution to dry overnight. It is recommended to leave any sprayed surface untouched for 24 hours, however if you’re unable to wait that long – please ensure that the protected floor covering is completely dry before using it as it requires time to cure.
Will it protect against pet urine accidents?
Pet urine is very acidic and can virtually penetrate any protected barrier. While your pet’s accident may penetrate the protective layer, DetraPel® Carpet & Rug Protector is great for helping to reduce stains and improves stain-lifting capabilities. Depending on the type of carpet or rug, you may need to apply a thicker layer to thoroughly cover all the fibers on the entirety of the carpet. After an accident occurs we recommend cleaning it up as soon as possible. Take a paper towel to wipe up the liquid as it will puddle over the flat surface. If some of the urine penetrates the protective layer, first dab the area, then pour a little bit of water over the area and dab again. This should prevent the stain from soaking into the carpet permanently. The key is to act quickly as an accident that is left sitting on the carpet will eventually soak through.
How long does it last?
Depending on the use case, one application of DetraPel® can last up to 6 months if applied properly. Reapply DetraPel® after every time you wash the protected surface with water or a solvent-based cleaner. Protected floor covering that are in high traffic areas may require reapplication more frequently.
Is DetraPel® safe to use near my pets and kids?
Absolutely. DetraPel® Carpet & Rug Protector is incredibly safe for you, your family members and your pets. With no toxic chemicals and a natural water-based formula, DetraPel® can be safely applied in your home.
Will it change the appearance or feel of my new rug?
No. DetraPel® does not change the look or feel of any surface. However, we do recommend testing in a hidden area for compatibility before a full application.
Do I need to use any special cleaners to after treatment?
No. In most cases a spill on a surface that has been protected by DetraPel® will not penetrate the protective barrier. A liquid spill will bead up and roll off or sit on top of the treated surface. Use a dry cloth or paper towel to wipe/dab up any remaining liquid. If the spill occurs with force or is left to sit on the surface, then the liquid will begin to seep between the fibers of the surface. A quick response is ideal, but when it’s not possible you may need to pour a small amount of water on the area that has been penetrated. The water will lift the colored liquid off the surface’s fibers. Lightly wipe/dab the wet surface until it appears that the stain has been lifted. The surface should dry without any staining. If there still appears to be some staining, pour a little more water and dab again. In rare circumstances, you may need to use soap to remove the rest of the stain.
